Statement of intent- Music Video

My narrative begins with a teenage boy playing a video game. In this video game my artist is presented as the character in the game. She comes to life and invites the teenage boy into the game where they go exploring all the different levels in the game. The boy and artist begin to fall in love as the video game progresses. At the end the artist and the boy lean in to kiss but as they get close a low battery sign appears and the boy is on his own in his room exactly like in the beginning.

I will use four settings in my music video which will be contrastingly different to clearly outline how the characters in my music video will be travelling to different levels (locations). One setting will be in the gamer’s bedroom where the video will begin, there will be posters and other objects that will be filmed to provide an atmosphere before the music begins. A field lined with trees will be where the video game is first shown and will start the characters journey. The two other locations will be Hastings Beach and the graffiti tunnel to provide activities and contrasting locations. 

The two representations/social groups in my video that I will present will be a teenage boy and my artist who will be a main character in the video game. Another representation in my video will be virtual reality and reality. The intertextuality in my music video will be Lily Allen from her music video for the song LDN. I will present this intertextuality through the costume my artist will wear. Another intertextual reference that I will present is Nintendo. I will do this through the use of a Nintendo DS screen where my artist will be seen, and the video will be set. 

The lip sync in my music video will be shown throughout the video by multiple shots of my artist singing to the camera. The verses will usually be involving the narrative of the video but choruses will be the main involvement in the lip syncing section which will create a clear link to the artist. I have attracted the stated audience through the use of the Nintendo game reference which will be a familiar topic that was prominent part of their childhood. This nostalgia has been used in order to attract my mainstream 16-25 year olds. The performative element and quick shots which will be incorporated when editing will also be a main contributor to targeting the stated audience.
